How Can Positive Self Talk Help You Achieve Your Goals ?

We all have access to a powerful tool which when used regularly will increase our self esteem, and break through limiting self-imposed beliefs…It is called positive self-talk.

Everyone wants to be physically and mentally healthy. The true measure of “mental health” is how optimistic you are about yourself and your life. You can learn how to control your thinking in very specific ways so that you feel positive about yourself and your situation, no matter the circumstances.

We have all been there and it is normal and natural to have self-doubt along your path to greatness. But, if you understand the power of self improvement and and are able yo harness that power, these obstacles can be overcome quickly…

Using Positive Self-Talk to Conquer Any Goal

Do you feel like you are always talking yourself out of success?

As soon as you start to set goals for yourself, do you suddenly have negative thoughts about how you aren’t up to the task and you are not able to see it through till completion?

If you have ever experienced either situation, you need to change the way you respond to your inner thoughts. Instead of following your negative commands, you can use positive self-talk to reverse the negativity and overcome nearly all anxious thoughts.

Setting Goals and Sticking to Them with Positive Self-Talk

Are you initially filled with excitement when you first set goals for yourself?

Are these thoughts then followed by self-doubt and self-defeating thoughts that stop you in your tracks before you even get started?

It can be difficult to make the most of your life when you are constantly talking yourself out of being a success. It can be frustrating and discouraging to constantly have these thoughts . Actually, quite often we will not be aware we have these thoughts. All we know is that we don’t have the confidence to stick to our plans and reach our goals.

But there is a Solution!

Positive self-talk is an effective way to set goals and ensure that you stick to them, even if you have never been able to do this before. The way this works is that you decide what goal is important to you, and then you plan how you are going to achieve this goal. When self-doubt starts filtering in, you will respond with affirmations that prove your success without giving in to the negative pressure.

Re-Programming Your Mind

Affirmations are essentially positive statements that re-program your mind for the positive. The moment you have a self-defeating thought you’d be able to counter the negative with a motivating statement. An example of a positive affirmation is: “I am worthy of great success,” or “I see myself in the winner’s circle.” What this does is replace negativity with thoughts that will help you move toward your goals instead of further away from them.

Positive self-talk is easier to implement than you might think. You may not be aware of the the harm that can be caused by the negative thoughts currently within your mind. However, once you begin with positive self-talk, you will suddenly realize that you are self-sabotaging the goals you set for yourself from the minute that you make them.

This process can make you aware of  how much this inner conversation has been interfering with your life. You’ll feel hopeful that you can now set goals and achieve them and beyond.

Through positive self-talk you will be able to easily set long and short-term goals for yourself. And when you use affirmations, you’ll have access to a great tool to help you push yourself further than ever before. Learning to quiet negativity with positive thoughts is a great move toward setting and attaining future goals with ease.

Just remember, much of ability to succeed comes from the way you deal with life.  One of the characteristics of successful men and women is that they recognize that there will be temporary disappointments in life, and they accept them as a normal and natural part of life. They do everything possible to avoid obstacles, but when problems come… successful, disciplined, continuous learners are able to learn from them, rise above them, and continue on the path to achieve their goals and dreams.

    Positive affirmations are great for quieting those negative thoughts, I’m sure after repeating it 20 to 30 times you will have distracted yourself enough to effectively deal with those negative feelings. It’s all about beating your consciousness until your subconsciousness accepts these ideas, and makes them a reality.

  7. Positive self-talk does make a difference. If you quietly listen to your inner thoughts about a goal or level of achievement you’re pursuing, you can often hear negative thoughts bouncing around….”I can’t do this” or “I don’t know if I can really make this happen”…and so forth. If you hear those thoughts in your head, you’re still in doubt and need to address it. As Marc points out, positive affirmations can help with that.

    I would suggest everyone to use Tapping with these great affirmations… Unbeatable ! Even with leaving out everything else from your Tapping round; but Tap each point with an affirmation (saying these aloud to yourself) – and I would also recommend doing that in front of a mirror !

    This is post is so true. I have been preaching this to my hubby, maybe in different words. But if you talk negative you get negative. Positive self-talk is what gets me through each day.     I’m going to be selfish on this one! This article is perfectly timed for me. I am enrolled in a program called The Ultimate Game of Life and it is all about designing your life by developing habits which develop into reaching your goals, achieving a life of purpose, vision, and positivity for a lifetime! It is all about positive affirmations, power, and an internally governed life.

    As I read your article, I was thinking that a month ago, I may have not understood some of it because my mindset was at a fundamental level and unable to comprehend what you are conveying about positive affirmations. It only means that I had not reached the mental level needed in order to comprehend. In other words, my brain needed to go through the perquisites in order to grasp the next concept.

    I’m beaming with pride as I read this article, because I realize how much I have grown and progressed in preparation for success. The concept of sabotaging my success is long gone. Although we don’t think or know we are sabotaging, we are able to recognize the limitations we had put on ourselves once we break through the beginner concepts.

    Positive self-talk is easy!

    Great post we must always be working on our self talk. In a lot of ways we speak our future into existence so we must be careful of how we are communicating with ourselves.

    It’s all about changing and refining the program the old adage Garbage in and garbage out is so very true. The advice you give here can really help anyone overcome this potentially destructive habit.

    So many of the old metaphysicians stress this point. Self talk does make a difference. By monitoring your self talk you can discover your true beliefs too.

    I would like to contribute a couple of things. Fisrt, detiachment is the big key to manifestation. When we get to a point where we put out our orders and don’t care if they happen, we get out of the way and allow them to come to us. Second, releassing the emotios that hold old beliefs in place allow that detachment. When you have released enough emotional garbage, you get inspired and want the things that are in alignment with who you are. Once that happens what you desire will come to pass. In all things positive self talk is essential.

  14. I have also found that meditation is great for quieting the negative self talk. And along with affirmations, I like to use afformations. That is when you take the affirmation and turn it into a question. Like , “Why is it so easy for me to attract new customers.”

    That really jump starts your subconscious to find the answers. Thanks for the great video. I added it to my favorites.

    what an inspiring post!
    I agree affirmations are great to help ourselves shift our belief.
    For about 20 years I had used them, but almost always was aware of this underlying niggling doubt.
    Then I came across Michael Losier’s technique which helped me to soften or eliminate the doubt..
    Adding ” I love the thought of …. ” to an affirmation is one example.
    I wrote a post about this on Affirmations.

    You make a convincing case, Marc, for making sure that the ceaseless chatter that goes on inside us is shaped to be positive and expressive of our greatest desires.

    Self talk is something that most people do all the time and are not conscious of what is being said. You have a great article about self-talk. Positive affirmations are like seeds when you plant them they begin to grow roots (new thought) and begin to overtake the negative talk that this going on. A wise person wrote these words that help improve our self talk, “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
