How is it that so many people struggle to meet goals, and then fail, while others succeed in becoming billionaires? The answer is complex; there are many possible barriers to reaching your goals and achieving great success. Fear of failure, fear to take risks and lack of confidence are a few common obstacles.

Those who have achieved millionaire or billionaire status have more in common with the underachiever than one would think. Most of them have made mistakes; some have experienced failure. One thing that stands out among those who have achieved success is the ability to learn from one’s mistakes. Some of Life’s Greatest Lessons come from our mistakes and failures. Learning from your mistakes is essential to succeeding in life and in business.

The underachievers tend to give up rather than to learn and grow from their mistakes. They lack the self-confidence to overcome failure and they lack the ambition to analyze the situation, face the challenge head-on and come up with ideas on resolving the problem.

Underachievers are unable to accept criticism and to listen to advice offered by others. They hate it when others want to force their advice on you when they don’t have a clue as to what your life is like.

Another big obstacle blocking the path to business success is the lack of knowledge and business skills required to run your own business. Most importantly, in today’s economy, learning to recession-proof your business is critical.

Personal and self development is essential to your ability to meet life’s challenges and to succeed in business. Self-confidence is critical to being able to allow yourself the ability to learn from your mistakes and failures without giving up or running away. Personal strength and mental health are just as important as knowledge and skills; together, they are the main ingredients in the successful, high-achievor.

  1. Good day Marc,

I absolutely agree! If we don’t commit mistakes and experience failures in life, we will not strive to become successful. It’s a necessary part of life wherein mistakes and failures leads us to become a better person not only from the way we act, but also from the way we think. It’s the best way for us to learn.
